חג שבועות סמח - Happy Shavuot. This holiday commemorates the day that the Israelites stood at Sinai and received the 10 Commandments. It's a celebration of new beginnings, of commitment -- and living up to our full potential, with courage to "walk our talk."
In the USA this year, Shavuot coincides with Memorial Day. When we remember the sacrifices that a brave few have made, so the rest of us can picnic in freedom, enjoy the beginning of summer, create new and better opportunities.
Back in Israel, we look forward, not backward, as we remember the covenant. On the Kibbutz, we bring small children to look at the baby goats, calves, lambs. We eat dairy, not meat. We talk of what can be, what nurtures us, how we hope to grow and prosper, staying true to our ideals.
So, this Shavuot (or Memorial day), we encourage you to tell about the covenants you've embraced, and the possibilities you envision for yourself and your enterprise, if you ignite courage to stay true to your principles and ideals.
If you're orchestrating the work of a project team or task force -- or bringing a board or executive team together -- it might be a fitting time to pause for a minute, reaffirm your values, recommit to the best and noblest intentions that keep you going strong. When the going gets tough and the issues get contentious, you'll be glad you aligned toward a higher purpose.
Include your message of thanks to celebrate courage when you forward this email to a colleague.

Look forward. How President Peres opened this year's BioMed Conference.
President Shimon Peres welcomed us all to Israel for the annual global BioMed Conference. "It's the scientists, not the politicians, who will shape our future," Peres said, "because scientists look forward and put us in touch with possibilities, not fears or prejudices. Scientists and inventors create revolutions in the way we interact and actualize our potential, not armies. Historians look back, hoping we learn from the mistakes we seem to make over and over again. Scientists break us out of those of those old paradigms."
"It's the inner secrets of our minds that will take us forward -- our character, our curiosity and courage," Peres said. "We went all the way to the moon to find external secrets from the outer reaches of the universe, and we came back to earth disappointed. The real frontier is right here -- in how we interact and challenge one another, how we make ourselves happy rather than defensive or threatened, how we solve rather than resign ourselves to living with problems."
Every year, the BioMed Conference ignites this magic in the way that scientists, investors, business analysts and advisors interact and challenge each other. Every year, the lead organizer Ruti Alon and her volunteers and staff at Israel Life Sciences Institute gets better and smoother at bringing inspiring speakers, jaw-dropping discoveries, breakthrough innovations to this who travel from every corner of the world to attend. Every year, they bring us new insights about unmet medical needs in the world, changes in the market, new inflection points that we can embrace as opportunities.
In co-operation with our strategic partners at Human Capital Consulting Partners, we are answering this call -- and enlarging the focus of our practice as Courage International Business Advisors, along with the coaching and workshops we offer as The Courage Institute. In Israel, North America and other parts of the world, our new alliance equips us to offer growing clients a wider range of advisory services to meet their capital, alliance management, recruitment, regulatory and go-to-market challenges -- with the courage to seize promising opportunities and accelerate success.
